CONSERVATION VALUES:
The Town and the Orleans Conservation Trust believe this property is important to preserve for conservation, open space and passive recreation purposes. The acquisition of the property will:
Protect land within the Town's Groundwater Protection District
Preserve land which lies entirely within the Pleasant Bay Area of Critical Environmental Concern
Preserve land within the Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program recognized primary habitat
for rare or endangered species
Maintain and enhance a wildlife corridor between Crystal Lake and a large red maple/white cedar
swamp north of the parcel
Add to the 40+ acres of preserved land by OCT and the Town along or just off Monument Road
Provide additional educational and recreational opportunities
