White Lane Restoration Project
Date of Project- April 3, 2010

On April 3, 2010 OCT Trustees, Land Stewards, Americorps members, and community  volunteers gathered at the White's Lane restoration Project to pull invasive vines that were damaging the  native tree habitat and to remove fallen trees after this winters storms.

The White Gift is 7.39 acres of land divided by a narrow unpaved road called Whites Lane. This  parcel gifted by the White family, borders a tidal river known as The River to the east as well as  a cove and saltmarsh to the south known as The Gulf. A brackish wetland of approximately 1 acre, straddles the two OCT parcels. The River is part of the Pleasant Bay Estuary an Area of  Critical Environmental Concern and significant portions of both OCT parcels are within the  ACEC boundary.  The entire property is located within the Natural Heritage and Endangered Species program Bio Map Core Habitat. The property is permanently protected.

The property is currently in its second year of a three-year early succession field restoration project. The Whites Lane Conservation Area's proximity to Pleasant Bay highlights the  importance of the restoration on this parcel of land. Pleasant Bay is one of the most biologically  diverse and productive marine habitats on the east coast of the United States.
